Things to Do & See

Panoramic view of the Boardwalk and Dock areas by Michael Fousie

Walk along the Boardwalk and enjoy the fresh air, have a picnic on one of the many benches or in the sheltered picnic area. Crab from our crabbing dock. Catch a charter boat to go on the ocean or river, or launch your own boat from the boat ramp.  Enjoy the fresh seafood at our local restaurants.

Bandon has a wide variety of things to do and see.  We have unparalleled beach
access, fishing tours, wine tours, crabbing, great shops, good food and recreational
entertainment such as golf and horseback riding!  Join us for our Cranberry Festival
in September.

At the mouth of the Coquille River, along the northern edge of Bandon, come relax and smell the Ocean air, mixed with enticing odors coming from Old Town restaurants.

Hi! I've been to Bandon several times in the past few years and thoroughly enjoy it. Ever since I learned it is the Cranberry Capital of the West Coast, I've wanted to tour a cranberry farm at harvest time. Thanks in advance, anyone with info. less

Sorry, there aren't any tours being given at this time. You can see bogs along Hwy 101, they should start harvesting towards the end of October.

I was born in Bandon in Dec 1938. It is one of the great places of the world. I'll try to make it to the cranberry festival this year. I walked in one of the first ones, the second one I think. I was dressed as a cranberry worker.:-) I wore a pair of hip boots that my grandfather bought me, and carried a scoop that they used to harvest the bogs with. We lived on a cranberry bog and my father also was a longshoreman.

My parents were married 1 1/2 weeks before the fire in 1936. They escaped across the river. My father died Dec 1 1980. I put a obit notice in the Western World newspaper. I would enjoy seeing anybody from the old days. Is the minute cafe still there? Thanks for this web site. It has made an old man feel good. less

Wow, did you used to help your father harvest the cranberries back when? I would be interested to hear more.....signed, a cranberry lover from California!

      Hi Fred,
Yes, the Minute Cafe is still here and going strong. What a great memory of the Cranberry Festival and of Bandon. It is still a great place to live. Check out our Pictures from the Past under our Visitor's menu tab. Hope you can make it to the Cranberry Festival.

Hi Bill, I will be putting more on this page and the others under the Visitors menu. I do have something on wildlife watching under the Attractions menu and includes a link to our Wildlife members page. SEA and Free Flight have links
on the page. I would love to use some wildlife pictures from SEA on the pages.

This page needs some info about the wildlife watching opportunities around here. In particular, I know that Mike Fousie has lots of photos of SEA activities.

Welcome! Where are you coming from? Most now around these parts are "transplants" themselves. Weather is great right now. Sunny skies, mild breeze and everyone taking advantage and working outside. From our place - above Olde Town - boats are moving out the river. Too much fresh water for crabbing but soon. Fantastic day!

Hi! Anybody up right now? What's up in Bandon? Will be moving there in about 4months.

Sorry if no one has written to welcome you. Most Bandonians are very welcoming, it is a great place to live.
