Bandon is a lively coastal town, framed by heavily forested hills to the north, south and east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It offers high quality communications, culture and health care, and world-class recreation all year long.

Home to just over 3,000 friendly people (and perhaps one grump), Bandon is located on U.S. Highway 101, 90 miles north of the California border and a two-hour drive to Interstate 5.

Bandon Beaches Bandon is widely known for its beaches. Stroll along them and find agates, petrified wood, jasper and tidepools. Don't forget your camera, we have great sea stacks and beautiful sunsets. This picture was taken by Mary Schamehorn, a talented photographer and the Mayor of Bandon.

Bandon's Climate Bandon has a very comfortable and moderate climate, with the average temperature in January being just over 50 degrees and in July about 67 degrees.

The average amount of precipitation Bandon receives is about 66 inches per year.

Bandon's Economy Agriculture is one of Bandon's primary industries, as the area is particularly noted for its sought-after cranberry harvest.

Tourism is a vital industry for this picturesque community, with visitors from the world over coming to enjoy Bandon’s beaches, fishing, hunting, golf, hiking, antiquing, seasonal festivals and the many other cultural activities Bandon has to offer. (A sparkling new theater is home to plays, concerts and community events.)

Businesses, built by entrepreneurs who chose Bandon as a place to live and work, have thrived here. A ready labor pool, in Bandon and in the greater Bay Area, is ready for new employers. Bandon boasts one of the nation's fastest internet connections with it's "Fiber to the Home" network. Fiberoptic communications are provided to homes and businesses by Comspan Communications.

The City of Bandon The City of Bandon governs itself with a city manager/council form of government, with a mayor and six councilors. Outside city limits, three elected county commissioners govern Coos County.

The city is well protected by a police department with six sworn, full-time officers and approximately 10 sworn reserve officers, and by a 30-member volunteer fire department led by a full-time chief. Bandon’s public school system is consistently rated as excellent, and several private schools serve the area, as well.

Bandon’s property taxes are quite low. There is no sales tax in Oregon, and the City of Bandon does not license businesses. The City of Bandon provides electric, water and sewer services within its service area, at very low rates. A wide variety of lodging and dining facilities are available, and numerous churches serve the area.
